I agree, every team needs a player or two who can take over games and elevate a team. Carry them through slumps, etc.
The question I have is that Chayka, due to his expertise in the area of analytics and how that was going to take over the NHL, was going to set himself above the rest of the league. His use and expertise with analytics was going to be a difference maker for the Coyotes. When can we expect this advantage to kick in? |

Compared to what was expected of him when drafted? Craig Button once had him as the #1 outside the NHL prospect. He had a good year last year, but he he's not anything more than a decent 2C. |

I wanted the Sabres to trade ROR for Domi
Would have worked out nicely for both teams. C'est la vie |

James, let me fill you in on something. Once a player is in the league for a few year, what was expected of him in the draft goes out the window and any assessment of the player shouldn't include that. Domi just put up an 80 point season. That's 1C numbers. Didn't you look at your HERO chart before commenting? 80 points makes him just a decent 2C? He would be the best forward on the Yotes if he was still there. Chayka blew that big time. |

oh, (frank) off. Galchenyuk was considered the real #1 forward in his draft year by many, and went higher than Domi. But it was endless analytical fluff platitudes about him, but a bust for Domi. You're (frank)ing weird. |

The coyotes gave up on all their players. Strome is probably a 60-65 point player. Domi is a legit #1.
Still, the real story is how badly they've been screwed by the early draft order:
2015 Strome, pick before is Eichel
2016 Keller, pick before is Matthew Tkachuk
2017 Didn't have a top ten pick
2018 Hayton, pick before is Brady Tkachuk
Imagine the Coyotes with Eichel (or McDavid), and both Tkachuks? With only a bit of luck, things could be very different. |

Kopitar and Karlsson were franchise players, it happens. Domi got super hyped and like I said above, he was considered at one point the best player outside the NHL. I think people were hoping he'd be a franchise player, I certainly did. |

They also went with Strome over Barzal and Marner.

ROR, the guy who is among the best - if not the actual best - overall players in the NHL?
Man it's hilarious what one season with a really elevated shooting percentage will do for your rep. Domi isn't a good player, or person for that matter. |

Well, i could link you to where I said that repeatedly before domi and ROR were traded.
Domi's A1/60 was really good that year, and he had horrible puck luck. Anyone who watched him could see that he's a good player. Chayka the analytics genius should have known he was primed for a breakout
But you do you and personally insult his character. |

Would you be calling Domi a good player if he put up 80 points in a Yotes sweater?
No need for you to answer. It's rhetorical. |

Im not even gonna rag on you about any of your claims.
I just think its hilarious that anyone takes predictions or odds seriously. Whos getting injured and for how long? Whos going to have a breakout year? You cant go off of what happened last year. This is why i cant stand analytical crap and people wanting to sound smart. Watch some hockey and enjoy the games and realize that with the exception of the Lighting and their constant one timers off of seemingly every rush until the playoffs, everyone has the same chance of being first as they do last.
Mid-season is where i can justify predictions, but even then you get teams like the Blues coming back from what, last in the league to winning the cup. Anything can happen. |

Do you know Domi on a personal level Tanner? Because I do. You’re an absolute clown for calling him as a person into question.
Domi, as a 17 year old London Knight, met with my son and inspired the (frank) out of him. Domi had no obligation to make time for my son, but he did, and has kept in contact with him whenever he’s down this way.
So shove your bullpoop troll poop up your ass. |

He's got a great hockey personality and plays a style that people like (trolling the leafs helps), and that's why people are going nuts for the guy.
But he had 1 season at 72 points and is a 2C on MOST teams. I wish him the best and hope he keeps it up but I'm not building a team around him at this point.
EDIT: guess the quotes aren't working...talking Domi |
